How It Happened For Them

But it was nice.

And it worked.

It worked because, for the first time in his life, he felt like he had something give. And it worked because, for the first time in a long time, she felt ready to take.

It was nice. It was real.

And it really came down to Timing.

They felt it deep in their bones: that’s where it really works. And they were both wise enough to know how special good Timing was. But the tragedy of wisdom is knowing how fast Time runs away, too.

She looked at the clock. The clock looked at him. He watched both faces…

Before the clock could cry out noon, his phone screamed for all of them. But it was too soon, wasn’t it? Must someone always leave?

 Panic had leaked into the room. She stopped breathing.
